We often advise our clients to commission a drone survey to surveillance obscured areas of a property, whether to simple establish the condition of an external building element or to investigate a point of entry for rainwater. Drone surveys are a more cost and time effective alternative to erecting scaffold and will allow us to advise our clients the remaining lifespan of a particular building element or advise cost effective solution for repair. Drove surveys allow our clients plan accordingly, either in respect of budgeting or obtaining a quotation from a builder.
We were previously consulted to identify the cause of water ingress to a rear first floor bedroom to a mid-terrace residential property with no external side access to the rear of the property. Following our advice, we commissioned a drone survey to surveillance a rear chimney stack, an area which would prove time consuming and expensive if scaffold was erected given the site constraints. Upon inspection, it was evident that the pointing and flaunching to the stack had perished, and we were in no doubt that this allowed the passage of rainwater to percolate down into the bedroom directly below. This time and cost-effective solution gave our client great peace of mind and, due to the high resolution of the video and photographs, was able to obtain multiple quotations, which demonstrated greater market value and allowed our client to plan and budget accordingly.
